My Big Fat Greek March *continued

After prowling around Monastiraki, we made our way to Central Market, apparently famous among locals for its food. So food it was when we arrived, only that it was -
uncooked.
Yup, big slabs of fresh meat and their innards, fishes of all types and quality, squids, octopuses and seafood - the whole place is like your regular wet pasar pagi in Malaysia 10 times over in size.

Ta ma de

Waste all our time.

So we had lunch in the first place we came upon, a rather dodgey kebab restaurant, but what to do, were all so so hungry that spending another 15 minutes to look for a recommended place to dine (that might turn out to be a underground place selling pot) just wasn't an option.

After eating our fill, we went to Keramikos.
Keramikos is this ancient cemetery. That's right. A cemetery with its own tombstones that was nothing, mind you- like the cemeteries you get in KL.A chinese cemetery in KL will probably look like this. Which is honestly quite colourful and pretty but beware Chinese cemeteries because when night falls, the ghosts the dead rise from the ground in their red cheongsams and come to suck your blood.

But a cemetery in Greece:
Is barren.
And have tombstones looking like:
This.
Uni coloured with its own statue on its tombstone, some depicting pictures of bulls like the above. There was one with a carving of two sisters sitting and sewing (or something) out of stone. What the - ?
I suppose when all these ang moh ghosts materialise after dark they'll probably sit and have tea or something while discussing how out of date sucking blood is.

They even had a museum that was boring at most and interesting at least with bits of broken pottery and things I can't even begin to remember.

I suppose the best part of the cemetery was that there were plenty of tortoises crawling about which almost made it a mini petting zoo. They were allowed free reins to do anything they wanted, so imagine our immense surprise when we saw:
Being one that does not indulge in porn be it on Channel 5 after 12midnight (yes, ang moh TV shows porn in the form of 'sex education' after hours) or on Discovery Channel, I naturally walked away to the refuge of some trees in the distance allowing these two fellas to get on with it. However, I discovered that medical students are in fact an inquisitive bunch as:the rest actually stayed on to watch. And judging from the way they are observing the scene, it must have been quite interesting to say the least. Oh well, you know, sex education is always beneficial to a certain point. Especially if it is of a different species.

Next tourist spot is Lybecattus Hill which was famed for its bird's eye view of Athens. I do not understand why, but every single city has this high spot where you can see the whole city which I honestly never found too Wowing before.

Lybecattus Hill proved - no different.

Tiny white buildings of the city that was really kinda not worth the 5.70 euro funicular trip up. But again, it was in Lonely Planet.
We were so bored that we decided to show our sincerest love for Greece by trying to shape the letters with our human bodies. The G might be a bit off as it IS a difficult letter to copy but if you use your imagination , the rest should read R E E C E. And for the really unimaginative -
If you still can't see it, I'm sorry but I think you've got a lesion in your brain or something.

Cape of Sounion
Studying overseas really has got its perks. A friend of ours who was born in Kuwait, has a Jordanian and Australian passport and lives in Greece now drove us all the way to the Temple of Poseidon that was about an hour south of Athens.

We spent a lovely 2 hours sitting in the sun when a group of tourists from China arrived and started blocking the view with their photo taking.
-_-

The next day saw us lazing around the beach and watching people as they strip down to go into the sea. According to our Kuwaiti-Jordanian-Aussie-Greek friend, he insists that the only people who actually braves the cold water after the sun sets are from Sweden or they are old. No questions asked.
They even argue in their knickers.

Watching the sunset and cam whoring with it.

Another expression of our love for Greece. If you can't read 'I heart heart heart you' then I believe you have zero sense of imagination and that heralds a medical emergency, 10 times worse than a brain lesion. Get yourself to the nearest A&E NOW.
