Medical Rant No. 2

mSo.
You see David Beckham shoot that goal.
Wayne Rooney dribbles past everyone and hits home.
Roger Federer ace it one more time.
Kobe Bryant leap and slamdunks the ball into the hoop.
The Olympics gymnast twist her body into a pretzel.
And all those rugby players smash into each other.

You dream of being like them.
You think how great it is to be like Beckham, having the Posh wife and Rooney having the hot girlfriend.
You think how everyone will swoon if u can deliver the basketball into the hoop and how proud you'll stand when you receive the cup for your 10th consecutive Grand Slam win.

And by right, you SHOULD BE proud.

But behind the scenes. When you are old and frail and gritty looking, you realise that your bones creak much more, your joints are stiff and frozen, old wounds come back and haunt you and you are not able to frolic and skip as well as your same-aged neighbour next door. Chronic pain is probably the most disabling thing when you are old, but honestly, it is disabling at ANY age.

So thank your lucky stars now that you are not Rooney, or Bryant or Federer.

And on hindsight, take care of your joints and muscles like, NOW. Don't go tearing or smashing up any. If you do, at least be a celebrity like Beckham to earn you enough money so you can ensure that you have 100 personal nurses at your bidding when you are old.

But don't forget, the pain still stays though.
